California Unclaimed Property · State Controller

We have unclaimed money sitting with the State of California

Verified June 19, 2026 against the official State Controller database (claimit.ca.gov).

Prepared for Will & Brian — please gut-check the vendors and amounts below.
Scope: company entities only — INTO THE AM, Emazing Lights LLC, iHeartRaves. Free to claim. No finder, no fee.

California currently holds about $15 billion in unclaimed property: uncashed vendor checks, credit balances, refunds to closed accounts, and forgotten deposits that businesses never collected. After a dormancy period, the holder (Visa, FedEx, Etsy, etc.) is legally required to turn the money over to the state. It sits there until the rightful owner claims it. I searched our three brands by name and confirmed the records below are tied to our Anaheim addresses (220 / 240 S Loara St).

The $1,390 Visa credit balance appears as two identical state records (IDs 1035892001 and 1035892000). I am counting it once here. When we file, claim both; the state will reconcile if it is a single credit.

How we claim it (free)

  1. Go to claimit.ca.gov (California State Controller's official site).
  2. Search the business name (INTO THE AM, Emazing Lights, iHeartRaves).
  3. Click CLAIM next to each record above, then CONTINUE TO FILE CLAIM.
  4. Most under-$5K business claims with a matching company address clear with light documentation (proof of business + address).
Never pay a "finder." If anyone calls, texts, or emails offering to recover this money for a cut, ignore them. Claiming directly through claimit.ca.gov is always free.

Questions for Will & Brian

  1. Do these vendor names and amounts look real to you (Visa credit, FedEx / Utah / ADT uncashed checks)?
  2. Who should own the filing — finance (Camille) as a one-time task?
  3. Should we make re-checking this database an annual line in the finance close? Companies leak uncashed refunds every year.
